First Kill was an instant hit on Netflix and continues its stay on Top 10 charts in several regions. The show’s success is not surprising, given its exciting premise. It focuses on two girls whose families are enemies in the supernatural world: Juliette (Sarah Catherine Hook) comes from a lineage of vampires, while Calliope (Imani Lewis) hails from a family of monster hunters. 

Juliette and Calliope’s contrasting roots make them natural enemies, but there’s a problem: the teenage girls are in love. Yet, they face overwhelming pressure from their families to complete their first kill. Do they fulfill their familial obligations, or does love triumph?

Imani Lewis plays a queer character in First Kill. She enjoyed that the show didn’t create a storyline based on the characters’ sexuality. The show’s about two teenage girls who happen to be queer. Lewis told The New York Post:

“What makes this story unique is that it’s two queer teenage girls. I don’t think we see enough of that. And, their fight isn’t with their sexuality, it’s this lineage that they were both born into.”

“I think what I love more than anything is that their queerness is not the point of conflict,” Imani told CBS News. 

Imani is a private character and hasn’t opened up about her real-life sexuality. Her queerness on First Kill is beyond doubt, but her real-life sexuality remains shrouded in mystery. 

Lewis said she would love to see more of Cal and Jules if Netflix renewed First Kill. “There are so many cliffhangers and so many loose ends that we need to tie up,” Imani told CBS News. “I want to see the fate of Cal and Jules. I’d love to see the dynamics now because, in the families, in the town, in the relationships, the foundation is crumbling.”

Imani and Sarah Catherine met during their chemistry read and instantly connected. Sarah Catherine told Collider:

“We met at our chemistry read. We didn’t even really get to introduce ourselves. We just went straight into the scenes. We just knew it was totally meant to be. I turned into a little puddle of happiness.”

Imani and Sarah have a strong connection, but the romance doesn’t extend to real life. Sarah seems single, and per posts from several years back, she was in a relationship with a guy named Philip Laskaris. 

The secretive Lewis also appears single. She hasn’t spoken of a relationship, and her social media pages show no evidence of a romance.
