How did Slick Goku die? His sudden passing
Slick Goku, a YouTube animator famous for creating his own animated universe, died on 19th January 2023. It took only four years for Goku (real name: Reggie Grover) to grow his following to over 250K. Goku’s originality and humor spurred his rapid rise as an online animator. Slick’s mother, Janice, wrote on a GoFundMe page to raise funds for his memorial:
“Reggie had a creative soul. He created his own YouTube Community and worked diligently to create his own videos. Anywhere Reggie would go he would make friends. Reggie was the kind of man that would support those he cared about.”
Slick Goku died suddenly after reportedly suffering a ‘severe seizure.’
Slick Goku’s friend Freddie Heinz tweeted that Goku died ‘due to a severe seizure’. Janice wrote that Goku was surrounded by family when he passed.
The death shocked Goku’s followers and collaborators as there were no reports of Goku being ill. Goku’s fans have expressed love for him by donating to his funeral and memorial in droves. The donations have smashed the $10,000 goal and continue to increase. Janice wrote:
“I wanted to let you and your family know Reggie was loved by many people and had many fans across the world who he brought joy to. I worked with him [for] many years and I saw people’s faces light up when they would meet him. He brought light to this dark world and everyone will feel the loss.”
Tributes to the late animator have proliferated since the family announced his demise. @bewbiedroid tweeted:
“I sincerely am at a loss having just learned about his passing. I’ve had the opportunity to work w/Slick Goku a few times, we even spoke and we fanned over one another’s work. He was a wonderful human being, very friendly, warm, hilarious and easy to work with. RIP. Safe Journey!”
