Where is the Hoonicorn now? The vehicle’s future

Following Ken Block’s tragic early 2023 passing, we look at a car in which he tore up many Gymkhana courses: the Hoonicorn. Block and Ford collaborated to create the Hoonicorn, which debuted in 2013 with a Ford 5.8-liter V8 engine producing 845 horsepower. 

The duo kept improving the Hoonicorn, installing a Roush-Yates 6.7-liter twin-turbocharged V8 engine that generated 1,400 horsepower. Thanks to its mind-blowing motor, lightweight construction, and all-wheel-drive configuration, the Hoonicorn went from 0-60 in 1.8 seconds. 

The Hoonicorn came alive with Block at the wheel – the driving supremo was one of the few people capable of handling the beast. 

Ford repossessed the Hoonicorn after the manufacturer’s partnership with Block ended

Ford repossessed the Hoonicorn after parting ways with Ken Block in early 2021. Block and Ford’s eleven-year partnership had been very successful, but Block felt it was time to move on. Block said:

“It’s simply been a dream come true to work with the company that built the truck that my Dad drove when I was a teenager. ’m super appreciative to Ford for the support over the years, but I am also looking forward to what an unrestricted 2021 holds.”

The Hoonicorn is classified under ‘Archived Garage’ on HooniganRacing.com. It’s not street legal, and, given Ford’s investment in the vehicle, it isn’t cheap. Therefore, we don’t expect Ford to sell the car. The Hoonicorn is likely in a Ford garage somewhere in the United States. 

We haven’t seen the Hoonicorn on the internet for a while, but it’s unlikely that Ford has retired it. Despite Ford ending its partnership with Ken, the Hoonicorn returned in late 2021, driven by Lia Block, Ken’s daughter. 

Lia drag-raced the Hoonicorn against vehicles like the Tesla Model S and Nissan GT-Rs. The car featured various modifications, including paddle shifters and new safety features. Block said:

“I hadn’t planned to race the Hoonicorn again since my contract with Ford expired at the end of 2020, but at the same time Lia was taking a very serious interest in racing—so, the stars just aligned to make this opportunity happen. So, we got to keep a Block in the Hoonicorn, just a different Block!”
