What happened to Nick Avocado? His absence explained
Nick Avocado is a mukbang influencer unlike any other. The premise of his mukbang content is the same as any other on the internet: he provides commentary while eating. Avocado’s videos are different because he eats excessive food and adds tons of melodrama to his content.
Avocado will pull any stunt while remaining within community guidelines to attract people to his content. He offends people a lot but doesn’t seem to mind. The admonishment he gets increases engagements on his uploads, gaining him more fame and perhaps, inspiring him to become more controversial.
Avocado is a regular uploader but hasn’t posted content in three weeks, fueling concern about him.
Nick has taken a break from social media to deal with personal issues
Nick is such a regular uploader on social media that people were concerned for his safety after he failed to post for several days. A rumor surfaced claiming he was dead, with one user tweeting:
“Apparently Nikocado Avocado is dead? Honestly, I don’t believe that. Sometimes he gets offline to probably prepare more of his atrocious mukbang videos.”
Avocado isn’t dead. Nick’s partner Orlin confirmed that the pair had broken up and stated Avocado was taking a break from social media to deal with personal issues. He wrote on Instagram:
“Nick is alive. Nick is doing well and is taking a break from social media due to some personal issues that were previously discussed in my last post and in the most recent post on the Nikocado Avocado 3 channel.”
Nick will almost certainly return to creating controversial mukbang videos. He thrives on attention, and such breaks from him are highly unusual.
Avocado occasionally promises to stop before gorging copious amounts of food on camera but fails to follow through on his promises. In the comments section of a recent post titled I Quit Mukbang, one user wrote: “If I had a dollar every time he said he would quit, I would be richer than Elon Musk.”
It’s unclear if the health concerns about him are real
Nick has raised concerns about his health multiple times. In a 2020 interview with Trisha Paytas, Nick said his need for attention stemmed from mental health issues, specifically Attention Deficit Disorder and Obsessive-Compulsive Disorder.
The confession plus his unhinged rants on social media sparked speculation that his mental health was deteriorating.
Nick then responded to his weight gain by saying he would leave YouTube to focus on his health; as expected, he didn’t follow up on his promise. In September 2021, he stated that doctors had diagnosed him with three broken ribs.
Via an email to Insider, Nick told the outlet that he broke his ribs following months of ‘excessive, forceful coughing.’ Avocado then caused outrage for referring to himself as a disabled person.
In April 2022, Nick posted a video titled I might have cancer, revealing he felt pain in his testicular area. In a subsequent video, he complained about experiencing blurry vision and lower abdominal pain.
He concluded by saying doctors hadn’t diagnosed him and needed to conduct further tests. Nick didn’t provide other updates on his health. In his most recent video about quitting mukbangs, Nick casually said he had diabetes.
Nick’s health might be failing, as commentators often speculate, but there’s also a possibility that he’s faking illness for attention.
