Is Nick Nolte sick? His rumored health issues

Nick Nolte

Nick Nolte is an actor best known for his role in 1991’s The Prince of Tide, which earned him his first of three Academy Award nominations and won him the Golden Globe Award for Best Actor. Nolte has won many awards during a successful career spanning over 50 years.

At 82, Nolte is no longer the Adonis who People declared the Sexiest Man Alive in 1992. However, he is still going strong.

Nick Nolte is healthy; reports claiming he’s suffering from Alzheimer’s are false

Nick Nolte is healthy and enjoying life with his fourth wife, Clytie Lane, and their daughter, Sophie.

Nolte’s body bears irrefutable evidence of old age, but reports claiming he has Alzheimer’s are false. A popular tabloid claimed that Nolte’s forgetfulness had sparked concerns about his mental health.

We are certain of the rumor’s untruth as Nolte’s acting career hasn’t slowed down: in 2022, he appeared in the films Blackout and Rittenhouse Square; Nolte is set to play the lead role in the upcoming film Eugene the Marine

A person with Alzheimer’s would struggle to memorize scripts and book roles as consistently as Nolte. Nolte’s consistency as an actor, even in old age, shows that he’s still healthy.

The actor’s grandmother and one of his fathers-in-law had Alzheimer’s. Nolte told Parade that he delighted in living in the imaginary worlds that his grandmother created. “I enjoyed that because I was beginning theater acting, and I would pick up on her improvs and talks,” Nolte said.

Nolte talked to the outlet following his portrayal of an Alzheimer’s patient in Head Full of Honey. He said that his experience with the disease helped him execute the role better. Nolte suggested that his family’s decision to place his grandma in a nursing home shortened her life considerably:

“She refused to talk to us again. She was just bitter and she died within seven days, where I think she probably would have lived three or four more years. She was in her 90s, but I think she was fine if the family could have tolerated not knowing what reality was.”

In November 2014, Nolte’s ex-wife Rebecca Linger reportedly told GLOBE Magazine that Nolte’s legs were falling apart due to old injuries. The outlet quoted Nolte reportedly saying, “I am tired – I am not going to live much longer.”

It’s been nearly a decade since Nolte’s alleged comments, and he’s still very much alive. The mobility issues the report addresses are fictional, as demonstrated by the productions Nolte stars in.
